Get Your Skin Summer Ready

Summer is just around the corner and we can’t wait for those days at the beach, sunset cocktails, and warm summer nights. But those long hours by the sun can do more harm than good if you don’t take proper care of your skin. With that in mind, here’s some tips to get your skin summer ready:

  • Exfoliate your skin Exfoliating consists of eliminating dead skin cells making it clean and toned. The best is to do it two days before exposing to the sun.
  • Eat antioxidant foods It’s best to serve those long hours under the sun with a side of antioxidant foods such as grapes, blueberries, nuts, dark green vegetables, etc…

  • Wear sunscreen Apply half an hour before going to the beach and then, every two hours. You should also re-apply if you’ll be in the water.
  • Wear after sun After exposing to the sun you should repair, nurture, and hydrate the skin. Wearing after sun prevents from shedding and makes your tan last longer. Don’t be shy to use it, there’s no such thing as too much after sun.
  • Drink plenty of water Combine a diet rich in vegetables and fruits with at least 2L of water everyday to keep your skin hydrated and with and long lasting, beautiful tan.

Hand Care Routine

It can seem an little excessive to talk about a hand care routine, but if you think about it, you use your hands everyday as tools, whether performing complex maneuvers or simple chores.

Besides having sensitive skin, I also have seven pets, so I’m always looking for the next best thing in hand care. I’ve been using two products I’ve become obsessed with, RITUALS Miracle Hand Scrub, and COWSHED Moisturising Hand Cream.

I use the hand scrub two to three times a week. It’s infused with nourishing oils, Ginseng, and Ginkgo Biloba. My hands feel extremely nourished after I use it although it’s a scrub.Cowshed’s hand cream is formulated with Chamomile, Grapefruit, Cinnamon, and Coriander, also, it’s paraben-free. It smells lovely and absorbs instantly, making it perfect for any occasion.

Finding a good scrub and moisturizer is important but there’s more you can do everyday to help your hands look and feel good. Here’s some tips:

  • Wash your hands with care. Use nondrying soaps. Rinse your hands well and dry by patting, don’t rub.
  • Use gloves when you plan to use harsh cleaning products, even dish soap.
  • Take care of your nails. Don’t bite them. Don’t cut cuticles, push them back, instead.
  • Take care of your whole self. If you want to keep your hands and fingernails healthy, think about what you eat. Dry air, sun, harsh soaps can cause dry skin, make sure you drink plenty of water to keep hydrated.

This month’s Lookfantastic beauty box theme is #lfjetsetter and is packed with great treats to get you glowing and ready for your vacation.

Today I’ll be presenting this month’s products, the reviews will follow over the next few days.

So, first things first, here’s the box:

Suitable for all skin types, this moisturiser is 98,83% from natural origin. It’s formula contains ingredients such as Rosehip, Sweet Almond, and Sesame Oils, that help balancing the skin’s hydrolipidic film. It’s rapidly absorbed and leaves the skin radiant and soft. Use it in the evening after being exposed to the sun to calm and hydrate your skin.

This shower gel is enriched with Vitamin B2 and Aloe Vera combined with Bergamot Blossom and Sweet Pear. With an uplifting and fruity scent that takes us immediately to a holiday dream scenario, it promises to leave the skin hydrated and happy.

I have to say I’m eager to try this BB Cream as I’m a little obsessed with BB, CC, and DD Creams. Infused with Dead Sea Minerals and Vitamin E, and SPF 15, it adapts to your skin tone, evening it out to bring a radiant complexion. Use this (or any other BB, CC, or DD Cream, preferably with SPF) over your sun cream for a perfect skin on the beach.

If you want a sun-kissed skin before you hit the beach, try this tanning oil. It’s formula is all natural with organic ingredients such as Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Borage Seed, Argania Spinosa Kernal, and Sweet Orange Oils. You should exfoliate your skin before applying. It glides easily and just make sure you don’t leave any gaps for a streak free tan. Results can be seen in 6 to 8 hours. Has a beautiful citrus fragrance and zero transfer.

These strips promise to leave your teeth radiant and pearly-white. Each strip is coated with a tooth gel composed of Sodium Chlorite and Citric Acid to absorb and remove surface stains. It’s peroxide-free, so it won’t risk your gums health.

Infused with Chamomile, Grapefruit, Cinnamon, and Coriander, this paraben-free hand cream is perfect for keeping your hands hydrated and healthy. It’s suitable for all skin types, including sensitive ones.

Last but not least, specially since it’s my favorite from this month’s box, it’s this amazing eye cream  with Copper, Silver, and Pearlisers, that take on the dullness and illuminate the skin. It’s formula infused with exclusive patents to help fight dehydration and even signs of ageing. The Resveratrol-Oley helps to tone, lift and firm the skin, while the Viniferine works to brighten dark circles. The results are puffiness free eyes looking more awake and bright.

Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments.

Everything You Need to Know About Micellar Water

Micellar water has been around for many years, and was first introduced in France in the beginning of the 20th century. It’s formula consists of micelles, which are oil molecules suspended in the water. Micelles are attracted to dirt, grime, and oil, and they can clean out impurities without drying out the skin.

I really had to try it and, even after my nighttime routine of makeup remover wipes and foam cleanser, micellar water still wiped out residue that the other products couldn’t. If you consider that it’s suited for all skin types – from super dry, sensitive, to acne-prone skin – and that it requires no rising, this water can seriously change the way we remove makeup and cleanse our skin.

Though I haven’t tried a micellar water I didn’t like, my favorite is CAUDALIE’S MICELLAR CLEANSING WATER with Organic grape water and Chamomile. I use it everyday and it leaves my skin clean, soft, and nourished. It also has a wonderful scent of orange and lemon blossom, watermelon and mint leaves.

Do you use micellar water? What’s your favorite one? Tell me all about it in the comments.

Lips of The Day

Today I’ll be reviewing these two products I got from lookfantastic February and March’s beauty boxes.

This pencil lipstick glides easily due to it’s silky texture. It leaves a natural, shine free look that lasts all day, even after eating or having a drink. The only downside to it is that it dries the lips, so put on some lip balm before using this pencil.

This balm’s formula infused with a triple complex of Shea, Mango and Coconut Butter, gives you the perfect color while keeping the lips moist and hydrated. You can also use it as a blush on-the-go, perfect for when you need to retouch your makeup but can’t have a lot of it with you.

Here’s a picture of my lips a few hours after applying both products and having a snack.

As the LORD & BERRY’S pencil lipstick tends to dry my lips, after applying it, I stain the center of the upper and lower lips with REVLON’S lip balm. It leaves a light shimmer while keeping my lips hydrated.

Do you have any tips about keeping your lips hydrated while wearing matte lipsticks? Feel free to share in the comments.

5 Tips for Perfect Lips

Stay hydrated – Take a water bottle with you everywhere you go. Keeping hydrated is good not only for your lips, but your body and skin as well.

Quit biting your lips – Biting damages and dries out your lips. Apply lip balm regularly to prevent it.

Find the right balm – If you’re looking for hydration, search for ingredients like Vitamin E, Jojoba, Beeswax or Shea Butter. Vaseline works as well.

Exfoliate – Lips, like skin, need to be exfoliated every once in a while. However, if you have chapped, cracked or sensitive lips, use these products with caution.

Protect –Lips are very vulnerable to sunburn. Apply a sun-protective lip balm or look for a lipstick with S.P.F..

Lets get started!

A few months ago I had the opportunity to try a monthly beauty box subscription. I’ve always been a fan of cosmetics and makeup, so having a box every month with 5 to 6 products to try (at least one of them is real size and the rest is travel size) in addition to all of those I can’t stop myself from buying all the time, felt really sweet. Then it crossed my mind that I could share my experiences so those of you who don’t get the chance to try before buy know what you’re getting into, especially since these products can be very expensive.

It only seems fair to dedicate my first post to lookfantastic and my favorite box yet, April’s #LFBLOOMS.

This gave me the perfect excuse for a (very much needed) home spa day.

This hair mask infused with Argan, Avocado, Rosehip and Sweet Almond Oils, combined with Vitamins A, B5, D and E, leaves a healthy looking and shine hair. It smells wonderful too. It’s ingredients promote elasticity and strength for a radiant hair. I’ll give you an update on that after I use it a few more times. Also, this mask is cruelty free and it’s formula is silicone, parabens and  phthalates free. Perfect for sensitive scalps (like mine).

Great for sensitive skin, this shower gel is parabens, sulfates and fragrance free. The formula with organic cucumber extracts and Vitamin E, leaves the skin feeling clean and nourished. It’s safe for skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, given it’s natural ingredients (most shower gels aren’t), and also throughout pregnancy and motherhood.

With Blackberry Leaf extract to help cell renewal and collagen production (leaving a great fragrance), and with Ground Walnut-spheres to exfoliate the skin and wash away impurities, this polish left my skin glowing and so, so soft. This is definitely going to be my go-to body polish. Every time!

This cream can be used as a tan maintainer or as a build up. I’m using as a build up so I’ll keep you updated. It has an incredible light texture enriched with Carrot, Coconut and Sunflower Oils, combined with Hyaluronic Acid and Seaweed that leaves the skin smooth, fresh and smelling beautifully.

This was the first time I tried a hand scrub and I was pretty impressed. You should massage a small portion into the hands, then rinse and dry. It’s nourishing oils with Ginseng and Gingko Biloba will soften your skin and leave it rejuvenated, a true “miracle”.

First let me say that this butter has the most wonderful fragrance I ever met. This has it all! The calming effect of the Chamomile and Lavender oils, and the Geranium and Palmarosa oils, along with Shea Butter, hydrating the skin. Perfect after using the hand scrub, the skin is left feeling soft, glowing and with the most amazing botanical scent.

I’ll be reviewing previous and latest boxes as well as other products I buy, in the next few days.

I would really love to have your freedback!
